Hey, thank you for reading Sebastian. I think it’s interesting that you mentioned the loss of passion due to the Medium Partner Program. Which, if we narrow that down further, then the loss of passion is due to the stagnant growth of monetary gains. Aka, no money for all the blood, sweat and tears we pour into our work.

And I can understand that 100%. When you’re not making money from something, it’s more of a hobby. But when you are, then it feels like a chore, or like work.

But I think all of us, as writers, started writing initially because we loved it. We didn’t write for anyone but ourselves. And I think many people nowadays write for an audience, but forget that they are the most important person to impress, regardless of the money that comes later.

In general, I think it’s very difficult to make money from Medium, so what I’ve found is that people use this platform to promote other parts of their business, such as their blogs or e-books.

I took a look at your work though. I sincerely hope you don’t give up on writing because your style is both poetic and conversational, which is quite rare to find these days (most writers are skewed in one of these directions). It’s engaging to read, and I’m confident that if you keep publishing while using the “correct” keywords and tags, you’ll grow an audience, which equates to more money (hopefully). It also helps a lot to publish on successful platforms like The Ascent, since they have a huge audience, and they can get your work out there.

But like any passion, no one person will always have this elated motivation to write for an extended period of time, especially since it’s a huge uphill ascent for most writers. But if you keep writing, you’ll find some level of success eventually. I know that for sure.
