Medium is a wonderful place to connect with writers and read up on their words of wisdom.
But such advice is essentially rehashed over and over again.
I know I’ve personally read hundreds of articles that state the same things, such as:
- Take small steps to achieve your goals.
- Wake up early to get more shit done.
- Journal your thoughts for better mental health.
- Write down your goals.
- Get a mentor (which is my least favorite type of advice, because this involves finding the right person who has the time and energy to help you).
- Hold yourself accountable.
Now the idea of accountability is not a new one. It’s been mentioned over and over again on Medium and other websites.
But for me, and possibly for you as well, it may be the only way to actually start achieving your goals.
Holding yourself accountable essentially means to start taking responsibility for your actions, and such actions will be observed or recorded by you or someone else.
And for some reason, people are more likely to follow through with actions when others hold us accountable.
