My god can I relate to this so much. A few months ago, I finally opened up to my mom that I've been battling with anxiety and OCD for most of my life and her response was something like, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? We had good health insurance back then. We could have taken you to see a doctor or a therapist."
And I responded with, "I didn't know it was OCD or anxiety. I just knew I was scared about little things, and I didn't understand why and I was too prideful to talk about it."
And I think this is interesting because, there many kids, teenagers, and even adults who have NO idea that their behaviors (as you mentioned) is a direct result of a mental illness, like anxiety.
So thank you for pointing this out!
